Review the progress of the Multipurpose Community Center
Background/Discussion
At the City Council meeting on August 1,the City Council voted to place on the November 8 ballot a
referendum for a community center and park improvements. The referendum will be in the amount of
$30 million, $28 million for the community center,and$2 million for park projects.
The Council also approved a second referendum question for$4 million to renovate the Olympic Rink to
a Field House. The first question has to pass in order for the second referendum to be carried.
Mayor John Dietz has instructed staff to explore the school district's interest in building the community
,center on the current site of the arena; this would require additional land acquisition from the district.
Outside funding sources such as grants including the Mighty Ducks Grant or other funding from
community sources will be vetted throughout the process.
