Dear City Council Members,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you as a citizen as well as a
professional for your courage and leadership in making Elk River the 58th
city in MN to proclaim their parks as tobacco-free. I work as a Prevention
Specialist for the Elk River Area Schools and am a certified Tobacco
Cessation facilitator for youth. I see on a regular basis the dangers and
seriousness of tobacco use. Whatever we can do to help in decreasing access
and use will benefit all citizens.
Sincerely,
Melissa Jordan

As a resident of Elk River, congratulations and THANK YOU to all who
supported the Tobacco Free Park Policy. This policy will send a strong
message to youth as we continue efforts to keep more youth tobacco free!

Dear Mayor Klinzing, City Council Members and Tina Allard,
At this time of year, when our hearts focus especially on those things
to be grateful for, I want to thank all of you for your support of
promoting volunteer service in the City of Elk River.
Tina Allard has been most efficient, thorough and timely in requesting
and publishing the information about current community volunteer needs
in "The Current". Also the web pages that she maintains on the City web
site are well displayed and informative, removing confusion about how to
become involved.
Your commitment, as city the administrators, to the inclusion of this
information for your citizens is commendable. All of us at RSVP
(Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), including our representation of
the Volunteer Bridge as a contact agency, wish to express our gratitude
for your support in this effort.
Yours in service,
Charlotte Strei
