Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the Central Pension Fund of the IUOE and Participating Employers Participating
Agreement.
Background/Discussion
The city and the International Union of Operating Engineers have agreed to a labor agreement with
Local 49 as the sole representative.
Article 30 of the labor agreement stipulates participation in the IUOE Central Pension Fund. The fund
requires employer contributions on behalf of the employees. The union agreed to a wage deduction to
account for the employer's share of the contribution.
The contract language indemnifies the city, its officers, agents, and employees from any claims, suits,
orders, or judgments. It also states that contributions from the city will not be funded from any other
source other than the wage reduction. In the event the pension fund requires additional contributions to
maintain solvency, the employees agree to further reductions from their wages.
