Discuss 2016 golf season and provide staff direction.
Background/Discussion
Council Member Wagner inquired about the possibility of opening Pinewood Golf Course for the month
of October.
The course has been maintained in a minimal maintenance state since it was closed for the 2014 season.
Minimal maintenance includes cutting greens, tee boxes, and fairways at a level higher than typically
found on active courses.
Staff has consulted with greenskeepers from area golf courses regarding the impact to the course.
The city currently is soliciting proposals from golf firms to operate or purchase for the 2017 season.
Financial Impact
The 2016 budget does not have budgeted funds beyond minimal maintenance. The preliminary 2017
budget does not have funds budgeted for Pinewood or a contingency fund from which to draw upon.
