Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Tom Sagstetter- Conservation and Key Accounts John Dietz—Chair Manager Al Nadeau—Vice Chair Daryl Thompson—Trustee MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: October 11th, 2016 6.1f SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: • The preliminary operations and cost of service studies have been completed. Staff is evaluating results and will work with Dave Berg Consulting, LLC on the final report and recommendations that will be presented at the November Commission meeting. • Attend and participated in Climate Smart Municipals. Hosted the German delegation at the Elk River Landfill Gas Generation Plant. Attended a workshop on combined heat and power, new solar technologies, and water conservation projects at the University of Minnesota. • Delivered welcome bags containing customer information and a new energy saving LED lamp. The service territory in Area 2 is very diverse and has many different situations than Areas 1 A and 1B had. • Ramping up for the holiday season. Flyers are being finalized for the holiday lighting contest and associated promotions with local retailers. ERMU will be promoting this contest again this year with Community Education and the Star News. Please see attached information for details. • Rebate activity remains good on the residential and commercial programs. Low-income activity is very good compared to the last couple of years. Tri-Cap is working hard for the qualifying customers in our service territory. • Developed a load calculation sheet to be included in the new service application process to help the field services staff determine proper transformer sizes.
