SUBJECT: Consider Hiring Accountant
Thirty-seven applications were received for the new accountant position currently being
filled. We were very pleased with the high quality applicants; there are several applicants
who have experience working in a city finance department. Second interviews for the
Accountant position have just been completed, and background and reference checks on
the top candidate are currently being conducted. Therefore, the final recommendation for
hiring will be presented to the Council at Tuesday's meeting.

SUBJECT:
Recommend Hiring of Accountant
I am pleased to reconunend the hiring of Lori Stich as the City's new accountant. Ms. Stich
has experience in government accounting including four years at her current position with
the City of St. Cloud. She holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting from the College of St.
Benedict.
Ms. Stich plans to start on February 7 at an annual salary of $41,000 per year. Her pay will
increase by all City Council approved cost of living and pay plan adjustments, and she will
receive a step increase on July 1, 2006, based on satisfactory performance. Also, the
Personnel Committee recommended that this position be reviewed within one year; an
additional pay adjustment may be made based the results of that review.
Action Requested
The City Council is asked to authorize the hiring of Lori Stich for the position of accountant
based on the provisions outlined above.
