SUBJECT: Request for New Truck for Building Department
The following is a recommendation to the Council for an additional pick-up truck for the Building
Department. Bids were received from Saxon Motors and Elk River Ford. Dodge is not included
in this memo because there is not a state bid available at this time and the standard bid is
approximately $1,000.00 higher than Ford or Chevrolet. The building department is
recommending the Chevrolet pick-up from Saxon Motors because of the lower cost (see attached
~st) and a few more standard listed features, i.e. larger tires, larger fuel tank, aluminized
Wtainless steel exhaust, tow hooks and corrosion protection. The department currently has six
inspectors, using four 4x4 pickups and two cars. The 1989 Chevrolet 4x4 currently being used at
B&Z will be going to the street department as part of a 10 year rotation for vehicles in the
building department.
