Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Jesse Dorn for the position of assistant finance director effective
November 28, 2016.
Background/Discussion
After going to market to fill the finance director position,Assistant Finance Director Lori Ziemer was
promoted to that position. This left vacant the assistant finance director position. We went to market to
fill the vacancy and received 36 applications. We interviewed four candidates and recommend Jesse Dorn
for this position.
Mr. Dorn has been working for Abdo,Eick, &Meyers as a consulting finance director for three
Minnesota cities as well as other contracted accounting services for a number of clients. Prior to that,he
worked for Baker Tilly Virchow Krause performing auditing and consulting services for a variety of
industries including government. He holds degrees in Economics and Accounting and is a Certified
Public Accountant.
Mr. Dorn will start at step A of pay grade 12. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
