Hear presentation on the Student to Career Manufacturing video.
Background/Discussion
Last month, the Mayor and Council proclaimed Minnesota Manufacturing Week, October 2-8. The city
and chamber along with Representative Nick Zerwas and Senator Mary Kiffineyer visited 10
manufacturing businesses during the week. The businesses met and many offered a site tour.
In an effort to recruit, attract and educate our local high school students and their parents about the
manufacturing industry, the city partnered with the chamber and school district on a Student to Career
Manufacturing video which will be aired during this presentation.
The three partners worked with the Industrial Technology teacher at Elk River High School and the
students to produce this video currently aired on the city website. The video was also aired on the
chamber and school district websites in October. The school district utilizes this video during student
advisory periods.
The video highlights career advancement opportunities offered by three of Elk River's local
manufacturers.
