the Minnesota State High School League Class 5A State Championship.

Team 125 Day.

Elk River Football Team 12S Day
WHEREAS, the 2016 Elk River High School Football Team 125 finished the season with an
overall record of 13-0 and won the Minnesota State High School League Class 5A State
Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Elks, under the leadership of head coach Steve Hamilton, dominated their
opponents during the 2016 season, outscoring them 584-158; and
WHEREAS, the Elks brought tremendous community pride and a very positive image for the City
of Elk River; and
WHEREAS, the Elks showed tremendous sportsmanship and class on and off the field
throughout the 2016 season,proving to be a credit to their school and their community; and
WHEREAS, the Elks celebrated their 125th year of football in Elk River by calling themselves
"Team 125" honoring all former players in the program; and
WHEREAS, the Elks' season was likely the most dominant by any Elk River High School athletic
team in the history of athletics at the school.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I,John J. Dietz,Mayor of Elk River, do
hereby proclaim Tuesday, December 20, 2016, as Elk River Football Team 125 Day in the City of
Elk River.
