Action Requested
Interview John Jordan for consideration as Heritage Preservation Commissioner. If appointed,Mr.
Jordan's term would begin immediately and expire February 28, 2019.
Background/Discussion
There is a vacancy on the Heritage Preservation Commission created by Robert Jones. The vacancy has
been advertised per the Board and Commission Policy.
Staff received one application from John Jordan. Mr.Jordan will attend the meeting.

Statement of Interest: Please state briefly why you are interested in serving on the
board/commission for which you are submitting this application.
Even though I'm new to Elk River I feel as though I've lived here for years. I love this
city, it's heritage, it's history, it's downtown, and the fact there's both the feel & reality of
being "small town America". It's why we moved here and why I want to preserve it, yet
still looking toward the future at the same time.
Relevant Experience: Please describe your educational, professional, civic, or community
participation, which may be relevant in serving on this board/commission.
Before moving to Elk River I was a Brooklyn Park city council member and former MN
State Reppresentative. I've served on a number of committees in my former city and still
chair a Signature Event Area task force there. In business I created and operate an
online business supply store ranked for the past two years in Inc Magazine's Top 5000
Fastest Growing companies.
