Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the purchase of a vacuum excavation trailer.
Background/Discussion
The requested purchase is part of the approved 2017 Equipment Replacement Fund.
The vacuum excavation trailer is a new piece of equipment that will allow for the safe excavation of soils
when placing new or existing sign posts in the right-of-way along our streets. With a heated water system,
we will now be able to complete this type of work during cold weather periods when the ground is
frozen. This unit also has a vacuum system that can be used for storm drain repairs and maintenance.
Financial Impact
The total cost of the vacuum excavation trailer on the state contract is $71,803. Funds are budgeted in
the 2017 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of$68,000.
