Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the purchase and up-fitting of a firefighting grass truck for the Fire Department.
Background/Discussion
Approved in the 2017 Capital Improvement Plan is a wildland firefighting truck to replace the 1998 Ford
F350. This front-line response vehicle is specially designed and up-fitted for grass/wildland fire
suppression.
Staff has received proposals from a number of vendors and is recommending the following based on the
lowest responsible quotes:
2017 F550 diesel chassis, state contract (Nelson Auto)............................................................. $51,369.63
Build out of skid unit with hose and 400 gallon water tank(Macqueen Group)................... $54,000.00
Warning lights, siren, scene lighting, and radio insulation (Mobile Vehicle Integration).........$8,000.00
Reflective graphics to meet NFPA Standards (Graphix Shoppe) .............................................. $1,200.00
Total project cost is $114,570.00.
Financial Impact
$115,000 was budgeted in the Equipment Replacement Fund for this project.
