SUBJECT: Out of State Conference Attendance

The national conference for the American Planning Association is scheduled
for Seattle, Washington, from April 24 through April 28. The national
planning conference focuses on many key areas regarding economic
development, redevelopment, central business district planning, and various
growth issues. The 1999 economic development budget, as adopted by the
City Council, programmed expenses related to attendance at a national
conference.
Action Reauested
Staff is requesting that the Council approve sending the director of economic
development to the national planning conference in Seattle, Washington,
April 24 through April 28.

SUBJECT: Therapeutic Massage License for Carey
Carlson

Carey Carlson has made application for a Therapeutic Massage
License. The license will allow Carey Carlson to practice
therapeutic massage in the city of Elk River. Ms. Carlson plans on
operating from Avalon which is a new salon that has recently
opened on Main Street. Carey has submitted the required material
with her application.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Council motion approving a therapeutic massage license for Carey
Carlson.
