SUBJECT: Out of State Conference
.
I would like to request council approval to attend the national conference for
the National Council on the Aging in San Diego, California, April 17 through
April 21, 1999. This is my first request to attend an out of state conference.
This Expo and Conference will examine new developments in the field on
aging and explore innovative ways of delivering services and meeting
challenges of an aging society. There will be over 250 individual workshops
offered which will include topics on healthy aging, intergenerational
activities, rural issues, and senior centers. This information and the sharing
of new ideas would be very beneficial in planning current programming to
meet the needs of seniors in our community. Attached for your review is an
outline of the conference. Funds have been allocated in the senior center
budget for this expenditure.
