Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the purchase of a Toro Groundsmaster 5910 wide area mower through MTI
Distributing with the state contract pricing of $104,181.91.
Background/Discussion
At the December 19, 2016, City Council Meeting, the Council recommended approval of the Capital
Improvement Fund which included the replacement of a 2011 Toro Groundsmaster 5910 Wide Area
Mower in the amount of $98,600.00. This is a 16-foot wide mowing unit utilized primarily for the
mowing of athletic fields and open turf grass areas. Additionally, this unit is utilized by park volunteers
for mowing natural surface trails in Woodland Trails Regional Park and the William H. Houlton
Conservation Area.
After reviewing mowing demands on this unit, staff has determined that purchasing the new mower and
maintaining the existing mower for use by volunteers and as a flex mower in the parks fleet would
provide the greatest flexibility and increase service levels within the city’s parks.
Staff recommends the addition of a new Toro Groundsmaster 5910 Wide Area Mower through MTI
Distributing with the state contract pricing amount of $104,181.91 to provide flexibility within the parks
fleet and assist volunteers in maintaining natural surface trails.
Financial Impact
$104,181.91 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the purchase of a Toro Groundsmaster 5910 Wide
Area Mower.
