Subject: Director's Report
This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to collaboration, strategic
planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations.
Riverfront Concert Series 2017
The concert series schedule is complete for 2017. The official schedule will be made available next
month. Favorites such as the Fabulous Armadillos,Arch Allies and The Jimmy's will be coming
back. Bands will perform June 22 through August 24 with no concert on July 6.
A grand opening for Rivers Edge Commons Park is scheduled for June 15,rain or shine. No
headliner band is planned for this event but it will have roving entertainment and an opportunity to
showcase the new park to the public.
City Annual Boards/Commissions Recognition Dinner
The city annual board and commissions dinner is scheduled for Wednesday,March 8 at Rockwoods.
A reminder that the Parks and Recreation Commission regular meeting for March has been moved
to Thursday,March 9.
Pinewood Golf Course
Staff continues to work on the proposal from the Elk River Golf Club to manage Pinewood Golf
Course. Staff is currently working on a contract agreement that will be brought forward to City
Council for approval.
Bailey Point Nature Preserve Barn
Park Maintenance staff is planning the demolition of the Bailey Point Nature Preserve horse barn
this winter. The Bailey Point Master Plan determined that the small barn be removed as it does not
have historical value and continues to deteriorate. The asbestos test was completed with negative
results. The barn is located next to the maintenance structure that was restored as an Eagle Scout
project.
