SUBJECT: Boys and Girls Club Update
Councilmember Thompson is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Elk
River Boys and Girls Club. Councilmember Motin is also on the Board of
Directors. The Lions Club is working with this organization for the
construction of a facility in Lions Park. The Boys and Girls Club is moving
forward with its fundraising efforts in order to provide money for the
construction of the facility and the operation of the club.

I have been working with the executive director of the Elk River Boys and
Girls Club, Mr. John Fitzgerald, in finalizing the wording on the city/Boys &
Girls Club Land Lease Agreement. Signatures may already be on the
Agreement by the time this topic gets to the City Council for an update.
The building official is prepared to issue a footing and foundation permit.
Easements still need to be obtained by the Club from an adjacent property
owner, but this is expected to be completed on either March 15 or 16. A final
survey with accurate descriptions of the easements should be received in the
near future.
Councilmember Thompson and/or Motin should be able to provide everyone
with an update on the status of this project at this March 15, 1999, meeting.
