5.0. SWCSR 04-06-2017 Sherburne Wright Cable Commission Equipment and Technology Report April 6th,2017 Playback System Upgrades We have started making the changes to the playback systems in Elk River, Delano, Buffalo and SWTV. Elk River has had the most significant changes so far and they change over to the new Leightronix Nexus HD system is proceeding in all the cities on schedule. Elk River Water Damage Elk River's City Hall had a fire suppression system water pipe break this winter. It happened on a weekend and a significant amount of water entered the building flooding the city cable TV production offices, the council chambers control room and playback head end. The break occurred in the ceiling of the Park and Recreation offices. We assisted the city with securing and moving equipment. Much of the equipment had to be moved from the editing room. We setup temporary editing facilities in another part of the building so that Elk River staff could continue their work. We checked all of the equipment in the playback head end and in the control room. Some of it had to be temporarily relocated as the walls needed to be replaced in those areas. Once the structural repairs were completed we assisted city staff in moving the equipment back into place, rewiring and testing it. Maple Lake St. Patrick's Day Parade We did our first parade shoot on March 11th in Maple Lake for the St.Patrick's Day parade. Overall the shoot went well. It was colder than we would have liked but we had great help from the city and our volunteers. There were around 120 entrants in the parade. As usual we shared it live on Maple Lake city channel 180. 1 New VieBit Features Part 2 VieBit Analytics-VieBit has many analytic features built into the system. There is the ability to see the top 5 viewed programs, the total number of views in selected ranges plus many other statistics. Some cities do not have lights in these areas so we are forced to have volunteers shine their car lights towards the work area. This can be difficult in some communities that don't allow vehicles on the grass or field areas. We would like to add lights to both trailers and the production truck to help us with this problem. It will also help us address concerns regarding volunteer and staff safety while working at night. The Buffalo Fire Chief recommended these lights for their quality and value and showed us the ones that the department uses with their vehicles. Action Requested:Approval of the purchase of Qty. They have 2 production employees that have been sharing 1 edit system. Editing equipment has changed significantly since this system was originally installed. The edit system that is requested was designed to work easily with the Nexus HD file system installed in Elk River and will allow Elk River staff to edit camera files produced in the Commission production trailer and with the cities portable cameras. It is based around an Intel Xeon E3 Skylake processor, internal solid state drives and a ASUS graphics card. It uses the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS. Additionally the city has requested the ability to save and share files to a network attached storage system that will have 8 - 3TB drives. This NAS will be used by both of Elk River's producers to archive, share and re-purpose footage. 5 We used to be able to purchase editing software as a package price but since then the software has moved to a subscription only model. We are using the Adobe Creative Cloud Software package with additional software to make it compatible with the Ultra Nexus HD file system. Action Requested:Approval of the purchase of an Video Editing system from AV Solutions of Minneapolis fora TOTAL COST of$6240.00 Action Requested:Approval of the purchase of an Adobe Creative Cloud software subscription license from Adobe at an annual fee of$599.88 Monticello Lectern Monticello currently has 2 portable computerized lecterns. The larger lectern is used on a daily basis but since we removed the Elmo camera from it, they are asking if we can condense it into a smaller version to match their 2nd one. The large one is difficult for some staff members to move and because of daily use it has become chipped up and hard to store. It has been in service for over 10 years. We would transfer the existing computer and other support equipment to the new lectern. We would also make modifications to the electronics and connections to make it compatible with the meeting rooms.
