11.1. PRSR 04-12-2017 i Elk Request for Action River To Item Number Parks and Recreation Commission 11.1 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Work Session February 8,2017 Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director Item Description Reviewed by Orono Park Master Plan Cal Portner,City Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Initial discussion of the Orono Park Master Plan Background/Discussion The city hired HKGi to assist in development of an updated Master Plan for Orono Park. The proposed design process will include the review of new and future park elements that have occurred since the master plan was approved two years ago. This includes adjustments to the skate park location as well as the integration of the new MNDOT-planned trail. The review of conceptual storm water management to integrate into the plan is also important as staff reviews costs of needed capital improvements such as parking lots and trails within the parks. We recommend that the Parks and Recreation Commission kick off this design process by reviewing the current Orono Park Master Plan and provide initial recommendations for feedback.
