Background /Discussion At the March Downtown Rivers Edge meeting, the group approved designs of benches, flower pots, and bike racks. Staff then presented at the March 6, 2017, City Council meeting where the Council approved proceeding with the benches, flower pots and bike racks as staff presented, as long as the capacity of the new bike racks is at least that of the current racks. The Council also expressed a desire to keep the current bike racks downtown for additional space. Staff will present the approved designs of the benches, flower pots, and bike racks. Financial Impact In 2017, the HRA budgeted $20,000 for the implementation of the Downtown Plan in the Other Professional Services line item. The total cost of the permanent downtown fixtures could draw upon this fund in the amount of $6,827.72.
