01-09-1894 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING January 09 1894 Minutes of the Proceedings of the ----- Election held at Music Hall in the village of Elk River, on Tuesday, January 9, 1894 D.R. Houlton being the only regular judge of election present, E.H. Davis was appointed ----act as one of the judges. Each took the oath required by law. E.E. Bryant, village recorder, was Sworn to act as ----of such election. Proclamation of the opening of the ---- was made by D.R. Houlton, one of the Judges at one o’clock the polls were closed by proclamation. The Judges then proceeded to canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest number of votes for the respective offices were declared elected. The following is a correct statement of the canvass of votes by ballot for the election of officers as publicly canvassed by the Judges,org: D.R. Houlton received 26 votes for President , and was declared elected. J.F. Lewis, Andrew Davis and Fred W.Hildreth were declared ----- Trustees E.E. Bryant received 26 votes for Record and was declared elected. Henry Castle received 26 votes for Treasurer and was declared elected. Jos.N. Taylor for a liquor license was presented and on motion accepted. On motion the bond of J.P. Taylor for liquor license was accepted, approved, and ordered filed with the Recorder for record. On motion the following Board of Health was appointed: W.B. Eaton – Health Officer, three years; Geo. C. Hill, two years; W.F. Chadbourne, one year. The bonds of Jas. U. Hare as Justice of the Peace, and E.E. Bryant as Village Recorder were accepted, approved and ordered filed with the Recorder for record. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: A.N. Dare, printing $ 2.90 W.F. Chadbourne, Judge at Charter Election $ 2.00 E.E.
