VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
Minutes of the Proceedings of the Chapter Election
Held at Music Hall in the Village of Elk River
On Tuesday, January 8, 1895
D.R. Houlton and J.F. Lewis being present as Judges of Election, each took the oath required by
law.
E.E. Bryant, Village Recorder, was sworn to act as Clerk of said election.
Proclamation of the opening of the polls was made by D.R. Houlton, one of the Judges, at one
o’clock p.m.
At four o’clock the polls were closed by proclamation.
The Judges then proceeded to canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest number of
votes for the respective offices were declared elected.
The following is a correct statement of the canvass of votes by ballot for the election of officers as
publicly canvassed by the Judges. viz.:
Chas S. Wheaton received 46 votes for President, and was declared elected.
A. Bailey received 46 votes for Trustee.
J.F. Lewis received 46 votes for Trustee.
F.W. Hildreth received 46 votes for Trustee.
A. Bailey, J.F. Lewis and F.W. Hildreth were declared elected Trustees.
Andrew Davis received 46 votes for Recorder and was declared elected.
Henry Castle received 45 votes for Treasurer and was declared elected.
J.H. Williams received 45 votes for Justice and was declared elected.
