VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
August 23, 1895
Council met in special session at 7:00 o’clock at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office.
Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis and Fred Hildreth, Trustees; Andrew Davis,
Recorder.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed:
Fred Stimson, Road work, $28.35
Frank Brown, Services July 4, 1895, $3.00
W.L. Babcock & Sons, rope, $23.23
The following resolutions were presented and on motion allowed:
Resolved that the sum of $25.00 be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village of Elk River
for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as lower ferry) for the month ending
August 22, 1895, order payable to J.G. Gray.
Resolved that the sum of $25.00 be appropriated in payment of the share of Village of Elk River for
maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as upper ferry) for the month ending
August 26, 1895, order made payable to M.E. Spencer.
On motion J.F. Lewis was appointed a committee to wait on Town Board of Elk River in regard to
repairing the Meek Road
No further business appearing, on motion meeting adjourned.
