10-19-1895 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING October 19, 1895 Common Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office at 4 P.M. Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis and Fred Hildreth, Trustees; Andrew Davis, Recorder. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: Fred Stimson, road work, $37.50 Luther McNeil, road work, $6.00 Chas. Davis, road work, $2.13 The following resolutions were presented and on motion allowed: Resolved that the sum of Twenty-Five Dollars be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village of Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the lower ferry) for the month ending October 22, 1895, order payable to J.G. Gray. Resolved that the sum of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25) be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village of Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the upper ferry) for the month ending October 26, 1895, order payable to J.G. Gray. On motion it was voted to levy a tax of ($350) Three Hundred Fifty Dollars in said Village for 1895. On motion it was voted to continue the allowance on free ferry (known as lower ferry) until the river froze over. On motion meeting adjourned. Andrew Davis Recorder
