A petition was presented by a committee from the town of Otsego. Said petition reads as follows:
Otsego, Wright Co., March 20, 1896
To the Village Council of Elk River, Minn.
This is to certify that we the citizens of Otsego and Elk River and patrons of the Otsego ferries do
not favor free ferries, but a reduction. To whit: Three crossings for Twenty-Five Cents (25 cents)
and a statement of proceeds furnished to said Council at the end of each month and the balance of
the month’s wages to be paid by said Council; or the sum of Twenty-Five and 00/100 Dollars ($25)
to be paid by the said Council at the end of each month to be paid to the ferryman.
The said ferries shall run between the hours of 6 A.M. and 8 P.M. and that we the citizens believe
this to be the best way of running the said ferries. Further, that a committee of three be appointed to
see that said ferryman run the said ferries according to the above agreement.
