VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 31, 1896
The Common Council met at Recorder’s Office at 7:30 o’clock.
Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis and Fred Hildreth, Trustees; Andrew Davis,
Recorder.
Each member had taken the oath of office according to law.
The bond of Andrew Davis as Recorder was presented and on motion was accepted, approved and
ordered filed according to law.
The application of V.B. Rubeck for a liquor license was presented. The Council being satisfied that
the same was in due form and that notice of the same had been duly published according to law, as
shown by affidavit of A.N. Dare, on motion the same was granted.
On motion the bond of V.B. Rubeck was accepted, approved and ordered filed with the Recorder
for record.
On motion the Recorder was authorized to issue a liquor license to V.B. Rubeck, on the
presentation of receipt for $500 from Treasurer.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed:
Chas S. Wheaton, judge, charter election,
and for cash paid for work on street, $2.50
J.F. Lewis, judge of charter election, $2.00
The last Saturday was designated as the time the Council would meet for the following year.
On motion meeting adjourned.
