VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 24, 1896
Council met at Chas S. Wheaton’s office at 8:30 o’clock P.M.
Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis, Albert Bailey and Fred Hildreth, Trustees;
Andrew Davis, Recorder.
The following resolution was presented and on motion accepted:
Resolved, that the sum of twenty-five and 00/100 dollars be appropriated to each of the ferries
across the Mississippi (known as the Elk River and Otsego ferries) if they will run free during the
ferry season of 1896 for the people of Wright County side of the river and for the people of the
Village of Elk River from 6 A.M. to 8 o’clock P.M. And in case one ferry ceases to run—that is,
ceases to be a ferry—the other ferry will be paid the sum of thirty-five ($35.00) dollars during such
time as the other does not run.
No further business appearing, on motion meeting adjourned.
