VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 5, 1896
Common Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s law office at 1:30 o’clock P.M.
Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; Fred Hildreth; Andrew Davis, Recorder.
The following bill was presented and on motion allowed:
A.N. Dare, printing, $3.00
W.H. Houlton & Co., lumber, $84.38
L.G. Davis, building sidewalk, $12.00
The following resolutions were presented and on motion adopted:
Resolved, that the sum of twenty-six dollars be appropriated in payment of the share of the Village
of Elk River in maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the lower ferry), this
being in full for the season of 1896. Order payable to Luther Hare.
Resolved, that the sum of six and 25/100 dollars be appropriated in payment of the share of the
Village of Elk River in maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the upper
ferry), this being in full for the season of 1896. Order payable to Jos. McDonald.
No further business appearing, on motion adjourned.
