VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
June 9, 1897
Village Council met at Clerk’s Office June 9, 1897.
Present: H.C. Hastings, Pres; L. Pollard; F.P. Brown; W.F. Chadbourne.
Meeting called to order by the President at 7:30 p.m.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and orders drawn for their respective
amounts:
Faun Brown, $20.00
Fred Bailey, $11.57
Perry Clute, $7.82
A. Low, $1.25
Fred Stimson, $23.75
A. Foster, $4.38
John Evans, $1.25
L. Pollard, $20.54
W.H. Houlton & Co. for lumber, $5.48
F.P. Brown, Marshal’s fees for May, $40.00
The following resolution was on motion adopted, viz: Whereas the Legislature of the State of
Minnesota having appropriated $450.00 for the purpose of improving the road between the town of
Elk River and Orrock to be expended as the Village Council of Elk River deemed best, we therefore
appoint Mr. L. Pollard and A.S. Merrifield to superintend the construction of road as they deem
proper.
The following Board of Health were appointed by Council—Dr. C.L. Scoboria, 3 years; J.H.
Williams, 2 years; and W.B. Eaton, 1 year—and Rec. ordered to notify them of their appointment.
No further business, adjourned.
