VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
August 7, 1897
Village Council met at the Recorder’s Office on Saturday, August 7, 1897.
Present: H.C. Hastings, Pres.; L. Pollard; F.P. Brown; W.F. Chadbourne, Rec.
Meeting called to order by Pres. at 8 o’clock P.M.
The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and orders drawn for their respective
amounts:
Faun Brown, $13.75, order 514, street work0
Fred Stimson, $12.50, order 515, street work
Charles Davis, $5.00, order 516, street work
Perry Clute, $10.00, order 517, street work
Will Sells, $5.00, order 518, street work
John Evans, $1.25, order 519, street work
L. Pollard, $13.30, order 520, street work
Frank P. Brown, $43.00, order 521, Mar. fees & lamps
Moved and carried that John Haywood be appointed Pound Master for the ensuing year and that his
yard be designated as Pound.
Voted to purchase 500 feet of 15” tiling for the purpose of draining street called Bridge Street.
On motion the Rec. was instructed to draw up an Ordinance prohibiting bicycles from using
sidewalks and have the same published according to law.
Mr. L. Pollard and Frank Brown were appointed a committee to view road across Mr. David
Parson’s land and see what is best to do in the matter.
