04-29-1898 VCM Filed April 29, 1898, 8:10 P.M.: Official oath of H.D. Mills as Trustee of the Village of Elk River. VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING April 29, 1898 Village Council met at courthouse at 8 o’clock. Present: H.C. Hastings, Pres.; C.T. Nickerson and H.D. Mills, Trustees; Chas. M. Babcock, Rec. The following resolutions were passed: Whereas it having been proposed to the Village Council that certain changes in the present grade as established in 1891 be changed at and near the junction of Main and Princeton streets in the Village of Elk River, as shown and explained by Mr. W.F. Chadbourne at this meeting; Resolved that the said Council do hereby decide that it is for the best interests of the Village that an ordinance be drafted and passed for such a purpose, to be acted upon at as early a day as possible. Ordinance No. 41 was presented and read by the President and was on motion adopted by the following vote, by roll call: Ayes: H.C. Hastings; C.T. Nickerson; H.D. Mills; and Chas. M. Babcock Nays: None. C.W. Hayden tendered his resignation as village marshal to take effect May 10, 1898, and was on motion accepted, and R. Grant was appointed in his place, and Rec. instructed to draw orders as before. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: M.J. Kalihas, special watchman, $1.00 Geo.
