Athletic Complexes
The maintenance crew has completed athletic field preparations for the spring and all fields
are in great condition for play. Ongoing improvements will continue to take place
throughout the summer with the additions of the scoreboards and potential fencing repairs
at Oak Knoll and YAC. With the savings on the scoreboard project,we are looking to
conduct some fence repairs on the backstops on YAC and Oak Knoll adding protective
screening at the top of the backstops and replacing some of the lower fencing of the
backstops. This should improve safety for spectators viewing the games from foul balls as
well as improving the overall aesthetics of the field.
Volunteer Projects
The Cargill tree planting event at YAC went great with Cargill providing 12 volunteers to
install 18 larger spruce and pine trees around the northwest corner of the baseball fields.
These trees will provide for future screening and wind breaks in the future as well as
providing increased aesthetics.
Twenty Boy Scouts and their parents came out to Hillside City Park and planted 400
bareroot seedlings in the area affected by logging from this past winter. This is the ninth
year of tree planting by this Boy Scout group and they already asked if we could have them
back again next year.
