03-02-1899 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING March 2, 1899 Village Council met at courthouse at 7:30 o’clock. Present: H.C. Hastings, President; H.D. Mills, Trustee; Chas. M. Babcock, Recorder. The application of Moses Mack and J.E. Champion to sell intoxicating liquors in Village of Elk River was taken up and on motion allowed and bond accepted. Ferry matter was brought up and on motion it was voted to lease Mr. L.O. Hare the ferry on the following conditions: That he fix boat and keep it in good running order and free from all costs and expenses to the Village, and that crossing shall be charged as follows: Tickets at the rate of $.05 for crossing from sunrise to sunset and regular charges when tickets are not used and fines same as last year’s for after hours. Bill of F.P. Brown for $2.58 was allowed and order drawn for same, and same being for work on streets, etc. No further business, adjourned. Chas. M. Babcock Recorder
