VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
Minutes of Village Election
January 10, 1899
At the annual Village Election of the Village of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of
Minnesota, held at Houlton Hall, being the place where it was directed to be held by the Village

Council after giving due notice thereof as provided by law, on the 10 day of January 1899.
H.D. Mills, one of the qualified voters of said Village who had within 20 days before said time been
designated and appointed by the Village Council to act as Judge of said Election, and N.D.
Trumbull, who was elected by acclamation, who being present with the Recorder at the hour of one
o’clock P.M.; each of them duly took and subscribed an oath to perform faithfully \[duties\] required
of them at such election.
And the said Judges and Clerks being duly qualified forthwith opened the polls by proclamation and
the election proceeded by ballot without adjournment or intermission until closed.
The subjects voted on at such election as stated in the notice thereof were to elect: one Constable,
three Trustees, one Recorder, one Treasurer, one President of the Council, one Justice of the Peace.
At 4 o’clock P.M. the polls were closed, proclamation thereof having been made by one of the
Judges 30 minutes previous thereto.
The Judges then proceeded to count and canvass the vote, and continued without intermission until
complete and result declared.
Statement of Result of Canvass
The following is a true statement of the counting and canvass of votes by ballot at the annual Village
Election of the Village of Elk River, County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, held Jan. 10,
1899, as proclaimed to the voters by one of the Judges of Election.
