Action Requested
Discuss the Council's vision and beautification goals for the Highway 10 corridor between 171 st Avenue
and the border with Ramsey.
Background/Discussion
Development interest along the Highway 10 corridor south of 171" Avenue (Cornerstone) has
experienced an increase over the past couple of years. The construction of multiple projects and
development requests have begun to shape the area and with the recent ordinance amendment request
related to outdoor storage, there is an increased focus on aesthetics and the southern entrance to Elk
River.
The segment of roadway is about 2.8 miles long and includes nine different zoning districts, and nine
different land use designations. The area also includes plans for a new signalized intersection which will
provide access to a new north -south connection in Twin Lakes Road, the Kelley Farm, and significant
amounts of developable land.
There are also code enforcement and vacant building concerns which should be addressed as part of any
beautification initiative in the area.
As the southern entrance to the city, what does Council want this area to look like?
Is there a desire to focus on commercial, industrial, or residential uses?
How proactive should the city be in code enforcement issues?
Financial Impact
None
