VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 30, 1900
Village Council met in the Recorder’s office at 8:30 P.M.
Present: H.C. Hastings, President; Henry Castle, J.S. Guerney, J.H. Romdeune; R.E. Dare,
Village Recorder.
Mr. Hastings in a few words tendered his resignation. On motion by Castle it was decided not to
accept the resignation and, on being urged to act by all the members of the Council, he consented to
remain.
Motion made by Mr. Castle that the Council do not grant a liquor license. After a thorough
discussion it was decided by vote that we grant license.
Motion made by Mr. Castle that Sec. II of Art. 27 of the Village Ordinance be amended by striking
out the words “seven hundred and fifty” and substituting in place thereof the words “twelve
hundred.” The motion was lost.
Motion by Mr. Guerney making it read “one thousand” instead of “seven hundred fifty.” Motion
was lost:
Ayes: Castle, Guerney.
Nays: Romdeune, Hastings, Dare.
Motion made by Mr. Romdeune that Sec. II of Ordinance 39 of Village of Elk River be and the
same is hereby amended by striking out the words “seven hundred fifty” and substituting in place
thereof the words “eight hundred and fifty.” The motion was passed and ordered printed in the Star
News.
The application of Moses Mack for liquor license was read. Also bond signed by Fred L. Grey, agent
of The United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co.
Motion was made that Moses Mack be granted a liquor license upon the payment of $8.50.
Motion was passed:
Ayes: Hastings, Romdeune, Dare.
Nays: Guerney, Castle.
Moved, seconded and carried the bond be accepted.
The following bills were allowed and orders ordered drawn:

No business appearing, on motion we adjourned until Thurs. evening, Feb. 1, at 7:30 P.M.
