01-12-1907 election minutes TBM ELK RIVER TOWN BOARD MEETING January(?) 12, 1907* Minn Meeting at in the Town Sherburne an Phoenix Hall th on the 12 day of - \[typed as in ledger; part of page missing\] The meeting was called to Town Clerk James Teller chosen as Moderator of the The Moderator, at the opening meeting stated the business to be transacted and the order of same as follows: To elect one Supervisor for the term of three years, to fill the place of John F. Blocker whose term expires, one Town Clerk, one Treasurer, one Assessor, two Justice of the Peace, two Constable, one Overseer of each Road District in said Town, and to do any other business proper to be done at said meeting. That said business would be entertained in the following order: st 1, the election by ballot of Town Officers: the polls to be kept open throughout the day. nd 2, the general business of the town to be taken up and proceeded with until disposed of. Proclamation of opening of the polls was then made by the Moderator and the polls opened and the election of Town officers proceeded. It was then on motion resolved that the compensation of the Town Officers elected at this meeting shall be Two Dollars per day. The Town Clerk read publicly the report of the Board of Auditors, including a statement of the fiscal concerns of the Town and an estimate of the sums necessary for the current and incidental expenses of the Town for the ensuing year. On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by tax upon taxable property in said Town: \[part of page missing\] rposes $250.00 ge 800.00 $1050.00 ordered that the the placed be \[illegible\] for posting places. on the Twin Lake Road on the Medowail on the Town Clerk’s Office At five o’clock the polls were closed, proclamation thereof being made by the Moderator. The Judges then proceeded to publicly canvass the votes and the persons having the gratest \[sic\] number of votes for the respective offices voted for were declared elected. Statement of Result of Canvass Frank Sandusky received 24 votes for Supervisor for 3 years. Frank Sandusky was declared elected. A.H. Keen recd 45 votes for Town Clerk. A.H. Keen was declared elected. Fred Nickerson recd 45 votes for Treas. Fred Nickerson was declared elected Town Treas. James Teller recd 45 votes for Assessor. James Teller was declared elected Assessor. B.F. Plummer recd 45 votes for Justice of the Peace. B.F. Plummer was declared elected Justice of the Peace. C.T. Nickerson recd 45 votes for Justice of the Peace. C.T. Nickerson was declared elected Justice of the Peace. Gust Moritz recd 45 votes for Constable. Gust Moritz was declared elected Constable. Ed Keegan recd 45 votes for Constable. Ed Keegan was declared elected Constable. B.J. Daniels recd 6 votes for Pathmaster for Dist No 1. B.J. Daniels was declared elected Pathmaster for Dist No 1. James Taylor recd 20 votes for Pathmaster for Dist No 3. James Taylor was declared elected Pathmaster for Dist No 3.
