PROCEEDINGS OF THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
TOWN OF ELK RIVER
March 10, 1908
Minutes of the Proceedings of The Annual Town Meeting at the Annual Town Meeting held in the
Town of Elk River in the County of Sherburne and State of Minnesota at the Phoenix Hall in the
Village of Elk River on the 10th day of March A.D. 1908.
And was called to order by C.E. Brown, Chairman of the Town Board.
And Al Tourttillotte was then chosen to preside as Moderator of the Meeting.
The Moderator at the opening of the meeting stated the business to be transacted and the order of
same as follows:
To elect one Supervisor for the term of three (3) years, to fill the place of W.A. Frye, whose term
expires, one Town Clerk, one Treasurer, one Assessor, 2 Justice of the Peace, 2 Constable, and to do
any other business proper to be done at said meeting.

That said business would be entertained in the following order: 1, the election by ballot of Town

Officers; 2, at 2 o’clock P.M., the Town Clerk read publicly the report of the Board of Auditors
including a Statement of the fiscal concerned \[sic\] of the Town, and an estimate of the sums
necessary for the currant \[sic\] year.
On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by taxable property in said
Town for the following purposes for the currant year.
On motion it was ordered that the following sums of money be raised by taxable property in said
Town for the following purposes for the current year:
For Revenue Fund One Hundred $100.00
For Road and Bridge Fund Ten Hundred $1,000.00
For Cemetery Fund $25.00*
It was then on motion resolved that the compensation of Town Officers elected at this meeting shall
be Two Dollars per day.
At 5 o’clock the polls were closed, proclamation thereof being made by the Moderator. The Judges
then proceeded to publicly canvass the votes, and the persons having the greatest number of votes
for the respective offices voted for were \[word missing? sentence ends here\].
The following is a statement of the result of the canvass of votes for the election of Officers and for
the various propositions submitted at the Annual Town Meeting in the Town of Elk River, County

of Sherburne and State of Minnesota, March 10, 1908, as publicly canvassed by the Judges at said
Meeting.
W.A. Frye received 37 votes for Supervisor for 3 years.
W.A. Frye was declared elected Supervisor for 3 years.
A.H. Keen received 37 votes for Town Clerk.
A.H. Keen was declared elected Town Clerk.
Al Tourtillotte received 37 votes for Treasurer.
Al Tourtillotte was declared elected Treasurer.
Henry Bailey received 37 votes for Assessor.
Henry Bailey was declared elected Assessor.
Erastus Morgan received 37 votes for Justice of the Peace.
Erastus Morgan was declared elected Justice of the Peace.
Gust Moritz received 37 votes for Constable.
Gust Moritz was declared elected Constable.
On motion the meeting adjourned without day.
