6.1e ERMUSR 06-13-2017 Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Eric Volk—Water Superintendent MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: June 13,2017 6.1e SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • Delivered nine new water meters. • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from nine water services. • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples o All samples met MDH standards. o Completed one MDH fluoride validation sample o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report • Submitted MPCA Discharge Monitoring Report(DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant. • We completed our annual round of hydrant flushing. The flushing was finished up the morning of May 12. • The WTP#7 Expansion has passed the final building inspection from the building department. We still have some paint touch ups, a few programming issues, and some landscaping details to tie up before the job will be complete. • Working with Kjolhaug Environmental to get the storm water pond at the field services building removed from the wetland. If we're successful at getting this removed, we'll save money when it comes time to mitigate for the wetland that is on the property when we start work on the expansion. • The water operators have exercised and completed preventative maintenance on over 200 valves so far this year. They have also found six valves that were off that should not have been. By finding the closed valves and opening them,water quality in those areas will be more consistent. • The contractor has partially completed the leak detection for this year. We are going to be working with the contractor to identify any leaks we may have in the coming month. • Water Operator Nick Adams gave notice; his final day was June 9. The job has been posted, and interviews for the vacant water operator position are scheduled for June 15 and 16.
