Background/Discussion
On May 23, 2017, the Planning Commission again reviewed a request to amend the ordinance for the I-3
(General Industrial) zoning district to permit outdoor storage as a principal use. The public hearing had
been continued from their April 25, 2017, meeting due to long-term concerns on economic and aesthetic
impacts that may result from the proposed change. The Commission's concerns echoed comments from
previous City Council discussions during a work session.
The Commission recommended denial of the proposed amendment.
Staff spoke with the applicant after the meeting to discuss the recommendation and options going
forward. They are exploring other sites in the city, and decided to withdraw their current request until
they have a better picture of their future in the city.
No action is needed as the applicant withdrew their application.
