Background/Discussion
BUSINESS VISITS
Eleven BR&E visits have been completed this year. More retention visits are in the scheduling process,
watch for the emails, and please RSVP to let us know if you are able to attend.
Spikes Feed Business Visit
Colleen, Bryan Provo, Zach Carlton, Debbi Rydberg, and I attended a business retention and expansion
visit at Spikes/JRK Seed. Spikes offers a wide variety of JRK Se
JRKs Eagan facility. Their mixes are designed specifically for pikes
offers animal feed, full line of turf supplies and a selection o-6 FT at
the Elk River facility. They indicated they have a good relationship with the city and have no issues or
concerns. They welcome the City of Elk River to utilize their digital display sign if they so choose to
advertise community events, to include the concert series, Taste of Elk River, and the farmers market.
Ebners Bait Business Visit
Mayor Dietz, CM Olsen, Debbie, and I met with Joanne from Ebners Bait. The business began in 1949
by current owner Joanne's grandparents Alfred and Laura Ebner. T
business offering both retail and wholesale services until 1967
Ebner and his wife Norma. They conducted business in the same manner as Alfred a
next 24 years before passing it down to the third generation of Ebner's. In 1991 Ronald and Norm
turned ownership over to daughter Joanne and son Mark. In 2007 Jsole owner of the
business. Their customers come from all over, including Owatonna
traffic occurs on Saturday where they serve approximately 200 pe
to them over the years and they have had no issues.
BR&E Visit Mystery Chambers
Dan Tveite, Barbara Burandt, Jake Pace, Colleen Eddy, Chris Leeseberg, and I attended a Business
Retention and Expansion visit with Mike Akerman at Mystery Chamb
four people and offers two themed mystery rooms. They are working on adding a third

Helenand Ashley, co-owners of Amore Ice Cream Shop this past week. They feature 48 flavors of ice
cream, pizza, specialty hot dogs, popcorn, soup, sandwiches, Jelly Bellys & candy.They employ21 PT
high school students and are looking to hire more. They have been very busy s
October of 2016. They average over 1,500 customers on any given weekend. They are planning on
opening another location in Buffalo early next year.
