Prior to the call to order, Ms. Othoudt requested the group to n
run the meetings. Motion by Ackerman and seconded by Bakken to a
Chair-person. Motion Carried 5-0.
1. Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee
was called to order at 10:05 a.m.
2. Consider Agenda
Motion by Ackermanand seconded by Bakken to approve the agenda. Motion
carried 5-0.
3.0 Consent Agenda
Motion by McCormick and seconded by Bakken to approve the consent agenda.
Motion carried 5-0.
4.1 Review City Beautification Applications
Cornerstone Auto
Ms. Othoudt presented the applicationand confirmed the nomination description.
Motion by Magnussen and seconded by Hardin to award Cornerstone Auto the
substantial improvements and landscaping award. Motion carried 5-0.
The Bank of Elk River
Ms. Othoudt presented the application and confirmed the nomination description. Motion
by Bakken and seconded by McCormick to award The Bank of Elk Riv
consistently maintaining their property in an attractive and wel-kept manner.
Motion carried 5-0.
5.1 Announcements
Ms. Othoudt reinforced the committee to encourage businesses to apply for a Beautification
award.

Motion by Magnussen and seconded by McCormick to adjourn the meeting at 10:38

Brian has repeatedly invested in his property since opening the -store and gas station in 2013. He took
what used to be an eyesore and created an attractive highway com Most recently, his
rebranding to Minnoco included replacing all the old gas pumps and the canopy, as well as fresh
C-Store building. These updates have enhanced the visual appeal of this property a

Approve, by motion, the recommendations from the Beautification
award recipients.
Background/Discussion
The Beautification Committee was established in March of 2017. From May through October, two
winners will be chosen each month with a grand prize winner chosen in October. Business owners will
receive public recognition and an award for making the city of Elk River beautiful!
At their July 10, 2017, meeting the Beautification Committee reviewed four applications that were
submitted for nomination. The Beautification Committee scored ea and is
recommending approval to thefollowing businesses in each category:
Spikes Feed, Seed & Pet Supply with the award for making substantial improvements to the
exterior of their building in the last year. Owner, Mike Persons will be at the meeting to accept
the award.
Abra Auto Body & Glassin recognition of consistently maintaining their property in an
and well-kept manner. Owner, Kendrick Johnson or a representative from Abra will be at
meeting to accept the award.
