Background/Discussion
We continue to partner with Sherburne County, Greater MSP, and Minn
through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Deve The
partnerships allowusthe opportunity toleverage our current marketing budget,attend market visits,
conferences and trade showsthat revolve around our four targeted industries.

Marketing/Newsletter
Staff is currently working with Prime Advertising to updatethe Community Profile for content/statistics
refresh the graphics. Several other communities have raved about our signature packe
in replicating. We are working on a new table cloth with the same look as the signature packets front
cover. Staff continues to submit award applications for our sige packet the latest one is to the
Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC).
Trade Shows/Conferences:
Staff attended the annual Data Center World conference in LA in
State Delegation, which included Michaud Cooley, GreaterMSP, Gre
and Stream Data Centers. The state invested in a new booth display, which helped to attract people to
our booth. In June, staff attended the National Data Center Summit in Chicago and the Informational
Management Network conference in Washington DC. Both events were
relationships were built. The state was represented on panels during both conferences, whe
shout out for Elk River.
Colleen presented at a Shovel Ready Workshop hosted by MN DEED,
the data center site and its partnership with Sherburne County. Over 40 economic development
professionals from around the state attended the event.
Social Media/Tweeting:
During the various trade shows, staff tweets via our Twitter fee-tweets posts from our
various sponsors.
Market/Site Visits:
Staff attended two market visits with Kylle Jordan, the Metro Business Development Representative, in
Chicago. The visits were with CBRE (who the city has worked with
Associates. Both visits were well received and an opportunity to promote the city of Elk River.
Video(s):
Staff continues to work with the citys video production team, who has been videotaping BR&E visits.
The videos are then uploaded onto the EDA/HRA website and on the citys YouTube Channel.
Advertising:
The EDA advertises in the Minnesota Vikings, Wild and Twins programs. We also took out a page in the
MN Thriving Up North magazine. The magazine is sponsored through
last year as state signed a three year contract with them. The state is looking at entering into contract with
Site Selector Magazine which would give the city the same opport
checking on costs.
EDA/HRA Website:
We continue to work with Golden Shovel Agency on our website. S
designer/content manager to over the site, upcoming articles and
take advantage of. Our available properties are being showcased on a monthly basis and we are keeping
our videos rotating on a regular basis.
Sponsorships:
The city sponsored the annual Economic Development Association of MN (EDAM) Summer
Conference. The sponsorship allowed the city to have an exhibit e distributed swag and our
Signature Packets, and gave Amanda the opportunity to speak prior to the award ceremony, on behalf of

the city. The event is always well attended and this year was sp

Financial Impact
Funding for trade shows, marketing and advertising are included in the 2017 budget.
