I August 1,2017 Tim Sevcik, Park Maintenance Superintendent Item Description Reviewed by Library Grounds Maintenance Report Reviewed by Action Requested None Background/Discussion The recent storms throughout the city resulted in seven trees around the library campus being uprooted or damaged to the point of requiring removal. The trees were removed; however, stump removal is still required. Stumps removal will be coordinated to coincide with stump removal around the city hall campus. As a result of the paving projects on Orono Parkway and for the new trail on the south side of the library parking lot, irrigation needed to be shut off for several days to allow for paving work to be completed. In addition, during excavation for the new trail segment the irrigation electrical lines were inadvertently cut by the contractor while preparing the trail subgrade. The combination of these two events resulted in the irrigation being off for nearly a week at the library campus, causing the dry grass. Staff is working with an irrigation vendor to make the necessary repairs and get the system up and running again. The landscape beds within the library will receive mulch topdressing during the week of July 171h in preparation for the county fair and parade. The parking lot curbing project is scheduled for 2017, though no date has been set. This project will be conducted in conjunction with other curbing projects throughout the city. The City Engineer stated that for the rest of the parking lot,he will reevaluate any other treatments once the curbing is complete to determine if a fog sealing treatment or other treatments may be necessary in future years but currently does not believe any treatments are required for this parking lot.
