Subject: AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE POLICE
OFFICER
This is to inform the City Council that W"e have completed the
selection process for the vacant position of police officer. I W"ould like
to receive authorization to make a conditional offer of employment to
Todd Besser from Brooklyn Park. Todd is currently a corrections
officer for the Washington . County Sheriff's Department. If Todd
successfully passes the psychological and medical exams, W"e W"ould
like him to start sometime the W"eek of September 13, 1999.
Secondly, W"e still have a COPS Fast grant position that has not been
filled. If the City Council W"ould like to fill this vacancy, I W"ould like
to fill it as soon as possible, so both officers W"ould go through the
field training process together.
