SR 09-05-2017Request for Action To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.9 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent September 5, 2017 Ron Nierenhausen, Chief of Police Item Description Reviewed by Resolution: Authorize Execution of Grant Cal Portner, City Administrator Agreement Reviewed by Action Requested Adopt, by motion, a resolution authorizing execution of a grant agreement between the Elk River Police Department and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Background/Discussion The Elk River Police Department has been awarded $83,200 in grant money for Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) enforcement. The grant requires City Council approval, and signature of the police chief and city clerk. The attached resolution will be sent to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for finalization of the grant. Once the resolution is signed, the final draft of the grant agreement will be sent to the Elk River Police Department for signature and finalization. Financial Impact N/A Attachments  Resolution Authorizing Execution of Agreement Document The Elk River Vision A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity City of Elk River City Council Resolution 17-____ A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Authorizing Execution of Agreement WHEREAS, Be it resolved that the City of Elk River, on behalf of its police department, enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, for traffic safety enforcement projects during the period from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018; and WHEREAS, The City of Elk River Police Chief, Ron Nierenhausen, is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City of Elk River Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota, as follows: The City of Elk River Police Department enter into a Grant Agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. th Passed and adopted this 5 day of September, 2017.
