1. Recognize the promotion of Officer Adam Bebeau to the position of Patrol Sergeant effective
September 6, 2017.
2. Mayor Dietz to administer the oath of office to Officer Adam Bebeau.
Background/Discussion
The special services sergeant position has been vacant since April 30, 2017, following the retirement of
Sergeant Dave Dummer. The chief has assigned Patrol Sergeant Dan Block to special services sergeant
creating a patrol sergeant vacancy.
After an internal promotion process, Adam Bebeau has been selected to patrol sergeant. The patrol
sergeant is responsible for daily supervision of patrol officers.
Officer Bebeau is exceptionally qualified as an 11-year veteran of the department; he has earned a number
of department awards and commendations and formerly served as the K9 Handler to Police K9 Zeus
since January of 2009. Adam also serves as a Field Training Officer, bike patrol team member and
instructor, as well as a firearms instructor.
Financial Impact
This position is currently budgeted and he will start at $42.41 per hour, based on the Patrol Sergeant
Labor Agreement.
