SUBJECT: Boys and Girls Club Update
Councilmember Thompson is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Elk
River Boys and Girls Club. Councilmember Motin is also on the Board of
Directors. John Fitzgerald is the club's executive director, and the Board has
recently hired Brian Gustafson as its Program Director.

The Boys and Girls Club is working with the Lions Club on the construction
of a facility in the city-owned Lions Park. The building began construction in
late spring, 1999 and is nearing completion. The Boys and Girls Club
continues with its fundraising efforts for this construction project and for
operating revenues.
Councilmember Thompson and/or Motin should be able to provide everyone
with an update on the status of this project at this September 20, 1999, City
Council meeting.
