Detroit Lakes Mutual Aid
ACTION REQUESTED:
Receive letter from Detroit Lakes Public Utilities regarding July 2017 Mutual Aid
DISCUSSION:
In July 2017 ERMU responded to a request for mutual aid in Detroit Lakes, MN. The call for
mutual aid was to assist restoring service for Detroit Lakes Public Utilities' customers following
a wind storm. ERMU deployed two crews of two lineworkers who worked for three days helping
with power restoration. The ERMU lineworkers responding were Mitch Girtz, Darren Weber,
Jared Rolstad, and Jake Koehler. Attached is a thank you letter from Vernell Roberts, General
Manager at Detroit Lakes Public Utilities.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
ERMU is reimbursed for all costs associated with mutual aid from the host utility.

Detroit Lakes Public Utilities during our July wind storm.Your staff was professional,
hardworking and extremely helpful in restoring service to our customers affected by the winds.
Please thank Mitch Girtz,Darren Weber,Jared Rolstad,Jacob Koehler on our behalf as we really
appreciate the professionalism and expertise they provided us in the time of need.
It is comforting to know that when in need of help,we can rely on our friends and neighbors for
restoration efforts to provide the excellent service all of our customers have become accustomed
to.
